Jacob Fossum grew up in New Jersey and Georgia as the sixth of seven children.  He received his BFA in painting from Utah State University and his MFA in studio painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art.  Since then he has been working at Sacramento City College teaching art.  His work deals with a personal narrative that confronts past and present conceptions of sexuality and spirituality gained through religion.
