Born and raised in New Jersey (with nearby Manhattan beckoning often and within only a short train ride), mixed media artist Tricia Talle moved to California early in her career in order to experience the Sierras and North Coast, and to benefit from the then low cost of higher education. A graduate of Sacramento State with a degree in Studio Art, she resists confinement to a single medium reveling in many: clay, assemblage, drawing, metal and photography. Although much of her work eventually finds fuller expression as she composes on the computer. Her work is sometimes social or political commentary, or narratives, often based on a personal experience, yet a recurring theme in her 2/D work is, as she describes them, “visual elixirs”. Focusing on elements from nature that are often overlooked in everyday life, she constructs images that “give the mind a soothing bath” or, yes, perhaps even provide a "tingling awakening”.
Talle honed her digital skills while working as an artist for Ferrari Color for 8 years. She taught Art New Media courses at American River College, and teaches in the Design Lab at Sacramento City College, as well as working as a graphic designer at Sacramento State. From 2003 to 2009 she served as co-curator for the BrickHouse Art Gallery, a Sacramento art venue she along with David Davis (aka davedave) developed. During her tenure the lively gallery was host to a wide array of emerging artists as well as to more established artists and performance events.
